Vocation: God’s call on our life

Vocation is a technical word for ‘calling’ used in the church to describe God’s holy intent to use every follower of Christ to transform the world. Everyone has a vocation. Find yours, and let it transform you.

The Church of England national resource explains more and offers some ways to start exploring God’s active, searching, purposes. People are called to serve and to glorify God in many places.

Living faithfully to your vocation often means staying where you are but being transformed by a mental renewal to see your role very differently. Equally it can involve a call to an entirely new order of life – perhaps a priest or other minister. All the children of God are called, and all are called equally. The challenge is to hear the call and respond.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last.”

THE BIBLE: John 15.16
