Day of Prayer
‘Oh for goodness sake, just shut up for a moment, let God in’.
A Day of Prayer June 1st 10am – 2pm St Mark’s Rooms
Former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, said ‘a lot of churches I find myself in, make me think, 'Oh, for goodness sake just shut up for a moment, let God in. This is so noisy, so confident and busy that nobody's really going to have space to grow in this'.
On June 1st, we will as a Benefice have a chance to do exactly that, to stop for a moment and let God in. We are inviting you all to a day exploring prayer – different forms of prayer, why do we pray anyway - surely it’s not just about getting a parking space when we need one… (it isn’t.)
In the beautiful setting of St Marks, we will have a chance to focus on prayer as the life blood of our Christian lives, in a relaxed and informal way. This will kick off the Novena – nine days of prayer between Ascension and Pentecost – in which this year we are inviting you to pray specifically for our Benefice, and the work we do here.
Please speak to Victoria or Vanessa for more information, and book your place through Sally in the Parish office.
