Welcome to ACNB church

@acnbchurch is the Church of England worshipping community in the parish of Ampfield, Chilworth and North Baddesley. We are here for all so that the light of God may be made visible in our local communities. We are an Inclusive Church.

June’s Pilgrims' session at St Mark’s will be on 21st June instead of 14th June to the Fete and dog show being on the 14th at 11:30-14:30.
26th October - please note that the only service will be 10am at All Saints. This will be Vanessa’s last Sunday service in the parish and it will be followed by refreshments as we wish her well in her new position.
20th July - please note that the only service in the benefice will be 10am at All Saints when Bishop Philip will be visiting.

The dates for this year’s annual meetings (APCMs) are:

  • North Baddesley: 19:30 on Wed 21st May at All Saints
  • Chilworth: 14:00 on Fri 23rd May at St Denys'
  • Ampfield: 10:45 on Sun 25th May at St Mark’s
Safeguarding Sunday is on Sunday 17 November. Join our congregations at St Mark or All Saints as we hear readings, sing hymns and explore what safeguarding is.
There is no midweek Communion at All Saints on Wednesday evening and there will be Morning Prayer rather than Communion at St Mark on Tuesday morning."
An obituary notice.

We are an inclusive and welcoming group of three communities following the example of Jesus Christ. Working together locally we seek to encourage one another to live the way Jesus taught

  • To worship God together and to faithfully embody His love for all people.
  • To prayerfully encourage faith and service.
  • To seek to learn and live a new life as a disciple of Christ.

We share our faith in the local community through organising or hosting various activities. Across the villages we use and take care of four church buildings - St Mark in Ampfield, St Denys in Chilworth and All Saints and St John the Baptist, both in North Baddesley.

Vanessa's final service

Vanessa's final service

On Sunday we said farewell to Vanessa, who’s been our vicar for the last three and a half years. When we found ourselves coming out of the shock of COVID and in interregnum, Vanessa felt called to parish ministry to help us hear how God wanted us to flourish.

It’s been an exciting few years; far more than could fit into a single post. We can pick on some highlights. Our children and families ministry has grown, thanks to Beth and a team of volunteers. We are now an Inclusive Church. And our benefice has become a single parish.

In her final sermon, Vanessa painted the broad historical sweep of Christianity and of ministry. We are all the church and our ministry carries on with or without a vicar.

She goes with our thanks and best wishes and prayers for her future. Vanessa is joining Winchester University as their new chaplain. As you can see from the pictures, we couldn’t let her go without a presentation of cards, flowers and a token of our appreciation. Also, a cake with her face printed on it, which Vanessa managed to cut very carefully.

A blessing from St Columba

Be O Lord, a guiding star above you,
a smooth path below you,
a kindly shepherd behind you
and a bright flame before you;
today, tonight and forever

Please also pray for the churchwardens, PCC and everyone in the parish as we head into this interregnum.
