Parish churches in Ampfield, Chilworth & North Baddesley

On Friday 29th January
Dear [subscriber:firstname | default:reader]

This Sunday we are celebrating the Presentation of Christ in the Temple which is also known as Candlemas. This marks the end of the Epiphany season and is followed by a couple of weeks of Ordinary time before Lent starts on Wed 17th Feb. In the church I attended growing up, the Christingle service was held at Candlemas rather than at Christmas and, for several years, a friend and I helped prepare the Christingles. I remember enjoying eating some of the dolly mixtures that we were meant to be putting on the ends of the cocktail sticks.
As the name suggests, traditions of Candlemas in various countries (including ours) involve candles, reminding us that Jesus is the Light of the World. So, this Sunday morning, why not light a candle as you join us for online worship?

The service will be available on the benefice website here (and below) and on YouTube (https://youtu.be/z9HJpGfFpIY). The order of service is available here: https://maw1publicbucket.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/Candlemas+during+lockdown+2.pdf (pdf).

Meanwhile. In other news the seasons roll on. Please send us lots of pictures. We look forward to sharing and seeing what everyone is up to.
Your parish church has not gone away. We are offering daily prayer privately. Please join us, venture deeper into spiritual communion with our Lord, and prayer for the welfare of our communities and those in health and public service.
